If you are wanting contact lenses AVOID Boots in Chiswick at all costs. If you are looking for new frames, there are 7-8 opticians on Chiswick High Road - mainly big chains. Richmond might be worth a trip as well, better service from staff. I didn't bother checking out Ealing. And 2-3 big chain shops on Tottenham Court Rd and a few on Charing Cross Road, that have more choice of frames. And Selfridges. If you not on a budget for frames (£250+/ £400+) there are a couple of boutique shops in central london that offer out of the ordinary. Eg one on Berwick Street, and another shop nearer the City, cant rem where exactly (partner might rem though) possibly Chancery Lane area. Service is very good, will let you take home display frames overnight to try out in your own time/ get partners opinion if you leave them your cc details. There's also online sites, my partner used one of these to treat himself to some prescription aviators, slightly cheaper than opticians. For contact lenses I tracked down my old optician (who I first went to 25 years ago and does part time hospital work and has opened a new practice) even though its a long round trip to Finchley, its worth it. He quality checks everything, and sent back 2 pairs before calling me back for my final fitting. But I am probably perculiar in that I prefer hard gas permiable lenses whereas most place try to flog you disposible soft lenses and a contract for you to come back for re-orders every quarter and checkups. Happy to post his details for anyone who wants them.
