Noise last night?

does anyone know what event was going on that kept me awake  til 3am this morning?It didn't sound like it was a private party,it sounded like it was in a public space with a proper PA system but I can't imagine why they would allow it to go on so long especially on a Thursday night. More annoyingly the music was really rubbish.Tired and grumpy from Avenue Road.

It was so loud, we got up to have a look. It was a private BBQ in a council flat on the corner of Avenue Road/Langley Drive. And yes, the music was rubbish.Also tired and grumpy from Avenue Road

You're joking! I can't believe that it went on that long and that loud without the police being called. How neighbourly of them to share their music with everyone. I'd love to have gone knocking on their door at 7am this morning when I had to get up.

At least at night you can put ear plugs in. It's when it goes on during the day, when you just want to sit quietly in your garden...Has anyone ever had any joy complaining to the council? The website is a bit confusing because you have to enter an address - do they mean yours or the offending party's? What if you don't know the address but have a fair idea of the area where the noise is being generated?

Also of Avenue Road here, I also heard this and was kept awake, I assumed too it was a public event because of the sound system thinking "oh well it will end at 11pm", how appalling it was a private party, ignorant and selfish people, given it was a council tenant it might be best to complain to the council's area housing office.

So did anyone who was being kept awake after midnight actually call the police? That would seem to have been the sensible thing to do. There's nothing the noise team at the council or the housing office can do retrospectively.

I've found the noise team very helpful in the past. I live in Acton as well and there were 2 parties going on in the road I live in and NO ONE complained, not even the 80 year old woman next door (NO she's not deaf). I have a small child and he slept through it (and NO, he's not deaf either)... and yes the music was VERY LOUD! It would be different if it was every night, but just ONE night in the year???One thing Sheela, and all of you who are complaining, why not join a communist party whilst you at it. Or form your own political party: NO FUN FOR ANYONE Party.I noticed that you mentioned the ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVOUR TEAM. Why is having a party ANTI-SOCIAL? I would think it is a VERY social thing! I can't come to grips with people who complain about everything fun... NOBODY can have fun any more. Two or three kids in a group: classed as anti-social behaviour now in Acton by the Police, kids on bikes - anti-social behaviour. Soon it will be illegal to smile or laugh without a licence. My God, what is this world coming to?????This was New Year, not a special event.  Get a life and consider others, and, not just yourself.

What a hard life you must have ... think of people with real problems.. like no food, no roof over their head etc., not a one off, or once in a blue moon occasion where someone dared to play music. Your complaints make me sick!

Does that mean we are spared you anti social views.  Remember some people have to get up for work and, need to sleep.  Have fun by all means but, do it in a social manner.  The 11th commandment....Consider Thy Neighbour....According To The Gospel Of Decent People.

Totally agree with you and Nicola. The Olympics opening ceremony made be proud to be British, but the selfish "me first" culture expressed by Susan is really utterly depressing, absolutely no consideration for others, neighbours, etc, well everyone, if an event like this happens again, lets not just talk about it or assume others are calling the police, lets actually pick up the phone and make the call, we all know there is no reasoning with such deeply ignorant people.

I've just been to Mill Hill Gardens with the kids and a group holding a children's party in the park had driven a car right into the play area and parked it next to the new kids roundabout. So thoughtless and stupid and selfish and dangerous. No idea how they are planning on getting it out.  Unbelievable.
