Virgin - rubbish service

Day 1 of the Olympics and no TV or broadband for 5 hours due to a fault in the W3 area. They really are an awful company - I had to get really cross before any compensation was offered. I shall be leaving as soon as my contract is up.

After countless ongoing problems I ditched their TV cable service just over a year ago and their landline phone just this week - truly appalling company.No complaints about their mobile service though - so far!

I know you will hate this Chris - but the Sky service is ever so good - not that I have anything but TV/Sky+. But the people at the end of the phone never seem to forget you are a customer - and by choice.

I wonder which companies are supplying the huge amount of bandwidth for all the additional cameras, etc, installed for the Olympics. There are two mounted on street lamps in front of my house with aerials up.

Weird: I've been with Virgin for years and have had hardly any problems. I don't recognise the company so many discontented people describe. Just luck, I suppose. I'm sure there are plenty without a good word to say for Sky.

Changed from sky to virgin last year and never looked back. Sky customer serviceis the absolute pits, unbelieveably rude in my experience.a few problems with virgin, but always sorted quickly and efficiently.

Sorry to hear your problems Chris. Been with Virgin and their predecessors for c.20years. Some memorable problems early on but generally really good. recently moved to Brentford from W3 and switch seamless.....34mg download yesterday evening.....

Unless you want the sport and movie channels, which I don't, there's nothing wrong with Freeview. I have a Freeview HD PVR and I'm very pleased with it. It cost about 6 months Sky subscription (Which I really do need to get round to stopping) Oh, and if you want super-ultra-hyper-megafast broadband, BT's Infinity service has been very good for me for a year or so

Yep I had the same problem yesterday afternoon and being on Broadbank with Virgin as well I had no back up to watch the Olympics my laptop.

Thanks for the comments, I was with Sky but left because of the Murdochs. I am stuck in a contract with Virgin so can't switch. I like the speed of their broadband but have had previous problems with tv and phone. Not good enough. I will let Mr Branson know when I see him next at the gym!

I cannot wait to switch from Virgin to YouView. http://www.youview.com/YouView recently received some luke warm reviews from some sections of the media...the threatened vested interests. At £299 the box seems expensive, but it has been getting raves, and you do not have to pay any more ever. If you wish, you will be able to order in exactly what you want, no more you have to buy this to get that. Chairman Lord Sugar, yes that Lord Sugar, expects the price of the box to drop with takeup. I don't work for YouView. I am just happy to see both Sky and Virgin get some sensible competition.
