Gary is a versatile and exciting young performer with many creative fingers in all sorts of performing pie. Earlier this year he appeared in E4’s hit dating show Playing It Straight as Gerald The Troubadour, an all singing all dancing narrator for the show. He was on set out in Spain with his comedy double act parnter in crime Robert Castell for the whole shoot to compose the comedy musical update moments and film the performances to update the viewers at home on the hilarious and dramatic happenings. Originally Gary trained as a flautist, pianist and composer at The Purcell School of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He decided after many dedicated years of work and training in classical music that he’d rather be a singer and actor. So, he did just that! He ambitiously managed to land great roles in a fantastic range of productions from actor musician pieces, plays and short films to concept albums and work shops of new writing. A few years down the line, having earned a multitude of roles and experience, Gary decided that proper training was required to refine everything he had learnt on the job by applying to study on the Royal Academy of Music’s one year musical theatre programme. He was offered a place and consequently got funded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund and by The Ian Fleming Musical Theatre Bursary.Gary has sung for the legendary Stephen Sondheim twice; once at his 80th Birthday Prom at The Royal Albert Hall and then once again at his Honorary Doctorate. He was cast as one of the featured solo singers for Kerry Ellis’ concert “Anthems” with Brian May at The Royal Albert Hall, and has recently recorded one of the lead roles for the cast album of the new pop musical “Fresher The Musical” which was released on iTunes in August this year. Gary is also being kept busy workshopping “Kandy Kottage” a new musical he is composing with lyricist Joan Taylor-Rowan (writer of The Birdskin Shoes on Kindle) and working on writing and recording a new mini song cyle entilted “Love Journey”.
