Noticed that this dive has finally closed and has been sitexed. Does anyone have idea what it will happen to it?

I don't think there is still enough demand for all of Acton's pubs. I just hope the new Acton Arms at the red back goes well

I believe the 'new box' is now a health a safety matter, hence being fenced off.1: LBE failed to recognise that there was no electricity on site to light the box up.2: The little holes in it that are supposed to be lit up, are very sharp on the edges so if,(God forbid), a child or even an adult were to put their finger(s) in one of the holes, it could result in a nasty accident.......Unbelievable or what ?

Ellie, are you serious about the box?!  That is truly unbelieveable. So another waste of money by the council.  First the junction by the swimming pool and now this.  Ealing Council needs to be disbanded and started again with people who know what they are doing and aren't just in it for the job for life.  When I say life, I mean until 55 when they can take early retirement with their huge pension.

I have no idea Sara what will happen now.....Will LBE go to the expense of running electrcity to it ?......Will these 'sharp' holes be modified, and how much is this all going to cost ?Somebody, somewhere must know or maybe they were hoping we woulden't find out !!

OK - so to compile a list ... as far as I can work out the £500,000 was spent1) Putting right a previous Council cock-up by re-planting the trees in the market place which were dying because of badly planned drainage.2) Paying for a series of Pots - that no-one seems to want.3) Replacing an ugly  green box with an even bigger silver box which now appears to be a Health and Safety matter.4) The only good thing I know of - putting up a giant tree poster to cover the ugly car park building on the High StreetWhen you think about it - especially given that we are in the middle of a dramatic decade of cuts - its actually pretty scandalous.

The tree poster is wholly fab isnt it...the rest?Hmmm.And we had high hopes of it to start with too.I dont understand why councils pretend to listen to what engaged residents want and then find reasons why none of it can be done. Why bother in the first place? Same with the Town Hall development. If it's going to be a top down imposition of something that voters dont care for, so be it but dont waste my time and energy with cod consultation.

My view is that they panicked.They had a very short time to spend the £500,000 before they would lose it - so they began chucking it at projects that hadn't been thought through.A lot of good could have come of that money - but it looks as if it has been (mostly) wasted.

I think a Freedom of Information request should be made to Ealing Council to find out exactly how this £500,000 was spent or not. It's scandalous,
