Rats on the Goldsmiths Estate

There seems to be an infestation of very large rats on the Goldsmiths Estate.  Just this week I have been informed by 3 residents that they have called pest control in as they have discovered nests of rats under their sheds and decking areas etc in their garden.  Residents are getting very upset.Apart from putting poison down and not putting rubbish bags with food out I wondered whether anyone had other suggestions to eradicate this problem.

Get a Jack Russell Terrier. Mine can sniff out a rat from a mile away.Garden decking is an instant magnet for rats. Easy to get into and nice and warm in the winter.

Buy a couple of rat traps.Like vey big mouse traps.

Stop using a compost heap, they just love to live in them -its nice and warm and they have an instant supply of food to hand.B and Q sell rat traps. But please dispose of the dead ones properly, else the foxes will have them.

Or bits of left-over, pizza, garlic bread, fried chicken, hamburgers, noodles, fish and chips etc.If foxes wanted to eat rat, they'd still be living in the country-side.  :o)

Fred,there are far more rats in cities than in the countryside I would wager.The smell of a rat would be very attractive to a fox.You can't judger by what humans prefer.

Don't worry Keith.The forum can become a bit moody at times.  I think it's always nice to balance that with a bit of humour to brighten the place up. I'm no rat.
