Damp issue - builder recommendation?

I have just been painting my bedroom and found a damp patch on a wall behind my chest of drawers. It looks like a brickwork pointing problem - it is an outside wall and I have had something similar before on another outside wall which was fixed by re pointing. Unfortunately the chap that did that work for me has now retired. Can anyone suggest anyone else please? Thanks.

but quite likely condensation - particularly if upstairs, in a bedroom, on a cold outside wall, and behind a piece of furniture (poor ventilation). Is there any mould?

No mould, just paint peeling and it looks damp. Its downstairs, I have basement bedrooms. I had a similar thing under the window a while ago which was fixed by re-pointing the outside brickwork. It looks the same as that to my (very) amateur eye.

If other suggestions dont work - try Maciek - good and reliable decorator/builder.Just sorted out damp ceiling for me - including repairing leaking roof!Details on request
