Over the weekend, I was sad to see that the Corner Bakery on Acton High Street is closed, with Dexter's advertising that they are moving into the premises. Seems so sudden.

As each new pot appears . . . . .

Not so sudden. I have been buying bread from them most weeks for the last 20 years. They have been running the business down for at least a year. Staff left and were not replaced, smaller runs of bread making, so if you didn't buy by 11 am there wasn't any choice. Shame. They used to be a wonderful amenity with great lunchtime sandwiches and rolls as well as excellent bread.

Yes I remember when they used to have at least three staff working there. It has been closed for about a month now.It used to be very busy but once greggs arrived sales took a nose dive.

Yes, I suppose Greggs would have impacted their business. Still, sad to see them go.

I thought they were ever so old-fashioned and just not making the things people actually want to buy: lots of iced buns and bakewell tart like things that seem to have gone wholly out of fashion and taste. So not surprising even if a bit sad

They made the best jam doughnuts, as big as a baby's head I swear!
