Santa's coming to town … again!

Following last year's successful relaunch of the Acton Christmas Fair, we're doing it again on Saturday 8 December! Taking place from 10am to 4pm, it will be held on The Mount (in front of Morrison's).In addition to the existing Saturday market, it will include:• craft traders• traders selling seasonal food, decorations and other goodies• community and charity stallsplus lots of things to do and see for FREE:• entertainment: carol singing, gospel choir, jazz & other types of music, dancing (Polish, tap and others)• children & family activities, including an 'instant' nativity play• Santa in his grotto (the same fab Santa as last year)• … and more!We'd like as many individuals and groups in Acton and further afield to take part. You can do this in any of the ways listed above, and we're always open to new ideas that will make the fair as lively and memorable as possible. We'd particularly like to have representatives from all the cultural groups that make Acton what it is, to celebrate winter and the holiday season.As this is a council-supported event, costs for participants – especially local charities and community groups – are kept as low as possible.If you're interested in participating in the Acton Christmas Fair in any way, please get in touch with the organiser Nancy Duin at nduin@nancyduin.net.

I just hope there is the shop window dressing competition - it's the bit I like best.

Nancy, if you have any influence over this area perhaps could you get the tree pits cleared of debris, the area behind the stainless steel box, cleared of all the junk, behind it and the church railings, which should, I believe be kept inside the box......and the area washed after each market day, as the paving is becoming extremely dirty and stained (and presumably unhygenic).

You are planning to use The Mount for a function - can I suggest you ask those who have given you permission to use the area to clean it up before you use it .... that might just encourage more people to attend your function......  Many people don't go there because it is so shabby and dirty.

I certainly hope it can happen - I know lots of the shopkeepers are keen on it too.

I wonder if the people who have stalls at the Boutique market at The Rocket might be interested in having a stall at the fair.Is it co-ordinated by Laura at Village Trading?

Laura told me that she has only a vaguely supervisory role in the Rocket markets now - they are mainly run by the Rocket itself.She kindly sent all the traders on her database information about the Xmas Fair and, so far, several have signed up to come.

That's very good news.Isn't there also a fair at the Park Club? I wonder if stall-holders there might be interested.Also there was a thread on ChiswickW4 a few weeks back asking for Xmas fair details - that mey have been a potential stall-holder too.

I think the Rev David Brammer and the choir sang there last year, but not sure it was the Gospel Choir.  He's a great musician, so perhaps he can busk as well!

David Brammer and his jazz group will definitely be performing again (let's hope there's more spontaneous dancing to their music this year, too). We're hoping that the Acton Hill Church gospel choir will be appearing, but any other groups - gospel or not - are welcome to apply.
