ADT Scam

Last Friday two people knocked on our door claiming to be from ADT (burglar alarm company) and offering to fit an ADT alarm for free as having the ADT alarm sign on our house would be a good advertising opportunity for them. We said we weren't interested. As it happens I had already arranged to meet an ADT representative for a quote and when I meet him yesterday I mentioned the 'promotion' they had in the area.He said that he was from ADT head office, he was the only sales consultant in this area and he wasn't aware of any 'promotion' or of any ADT representatives knocking on doors without having an appointment.I'm not sure if this is a scam or not but please be careful about letting these people into your house.

They knocked on my door too. I thought them dead fishy. The one that talked had a high vis vest on (why?) and there were too many of them. Four not two to my door. They did go up and down the road for hours.

One was in Faraday Road recently, He was ringing my bell as I came along the street.Just told him I was not interested but I am not sure where he went afterwards.

They were in Chaucer Road last Friday night (26th Oct). A young woman knocked on my door and said that she was from ADT and because they were installing some kind of wireless monitoring station nearby, they wanted to know if I had a monitored alarm.When she went, another guy, a young Asian guy (a bit more bolshy) knocked on my door and asked the same question. I told him that I had already had a visit. It never occured to me that this was a scam...but now you mention it....it could be very likely. Hmmm

This needs to be reported to our local Neighbourhood Police Officers.If someone calls ask them for ID card, noting down any information which appears on it - then pass it on to NPO's.
