return of a menace

Tall, well-dressed articulate black male appearing at doors in W3 with a dramatic but plausible story concerning the death of a relative and the need for a short term loan to visit family:some members may remember this guy. He has been doing this for years & to my knowlege (via the Gazette or Leader) he was in prison until quite recently. Be aware.

Thanks for alerting us Robin.  I must say I now always reply to these tales by suggesting firmly that the person goes to Acton Police Station for help.

I stumbled on this character a couple of weeks ago and he seemed very plausible. He appeared to have learning difficulties and he played up to that with a freedom card he showed me but when I asked him if I could check his house 'at the bottom of my street' he said he'd locked himself out. He couldn't get away fast enough when I said let's take a walk to the police station!
