Peter, I'm in the business of agitprop for the rejection of the present ARC proposals for the site. I would be perfectly happy if ARC came up with a proposal that does most of the things that we all want. As it stands, they've gone away to fiddle with a camel (so to speak). They will have to start from scratch to achieve the aim we collectively have. Recently I have come to realise that ARC's refusal to do deal with the leases has resulted in a ludicrous compression of the area for the built environment to the point where over-development has occurred. What Do know is that we MUST stop this ridiculous tug-of-war between the developers and the community. It is an attempted war of attrition, which is an insult in itself. David Buckingham's scheme is fully costed and can be built for the same, or similar, budget so we do have a viable alternative on the drawing board. I am not an architect and, therefore, my proposal is purely a conceptual suggestion.
