Publisher or literary agent?
Is anyone, or does anyone know, a publisher or literary agent who specialises in children's stories?I'm at the final manuscript stage of a 6,800+ word story aimed at children between the ages of 3 and about 8 (depending on whether an adult is reading or the child is a self-reader).It stands on its own as just text (I would think that!), but illustrations will improve it and make it more engaging - so they are definitely on the menu.At the moment, I'm looking at the conventional publishing route, but few recognised publishers accept unsolicited manuscripts, so this is proving to be fairly unproductive. Some do though, and I'll be contacting these companies soon.I'm also aware that I can self-publish (John Grisham and Tom Clancy started that way), but the costs of doing so vary widely - both in actual costs and what you get for your money. So again, a bit of a minefield.'The Writers' and Artists' Handbook' has been recommended by various sources, and I'll be looking at that too.But any help or advice anyone can give me would be very much appreciated. And if you just happen to be a literary agent or publisher looking for the next J K Rowling... well... you never know!
