Burglary on Grove Rd

Hi allJust a heads up to all. Now that it is getting darker earlier, it is worth taking extra measures to secure and protect your house. We came home on Friday evening to find that someone had used a crowbar to force open our front window. We did have a lock on the window, but it wasn't enough to stop the entry.We think the break-in happened around 4pm. Unfortunately no one saw anything.The police recommended that we put stoppers which are visible from the outside on the front windows as this can be a deterrent. The police also said that there hasn't been a lot of break-ins in the area recently. They mentioned some on Horn Lane, but nothing really around Churchfield road.If anyone did bychance see anything- please let me know!

How rotten for you.I'm told that the thing burglars like best are hedges as they hide their activity and wholly deaden the sound of forced entry

I attended a possible burglary in Cumberland Road last week. The flat is currently empty, but someone had turned on a light in the front room. Nothing taken but someone has a key apparently and we don't know who. Back gate open too. The police advised putting some of the lights on a timer. A radio or something like that playing some of the time doesn't do any harm either. The idea is to give opportunist burglars that idea that someone is possibly in the flat. Most burglars with walk on.

My car was broken into in Islington once: I had carefully parked in a nice residential road, under a street lamp. The police officer to whom I reported the damage (and missing radio) said the thief was probably delighted to have the car so well lit and easy to get into!
