CCTV at home

Any recommendations for security experts who can help choose and install a cctv network inside the house? We'll be leaving our 7 month old with a minder 3 days a week soon and I intend to have monitoring equipment installed for peace of mind.

Do you want prominent or hidden/concealed cameras connected to a recorder? You can get wired or wireless cameras with a dedicated recorder, remote monitoring may be available if you have a fixed IP address, even a remote alarm. Thanks Chris.I'm not particular about concealing the cameras. I intend to let the childminder know that there is monitoring equipment installed. I would very much prefer wireless cameras with a recorder and remote monitoring.I'll look up 3ADL.

Am I the only one who thinks this is wrong? Why would you employ anyone you did not have absolute trust in and so no need for remote monitoring. How will you use the facility in practical terms, permanently on via a window on your computer? On returning home will you be questioning the minder about her every move? I doubt most people would accept such monitoring in their work. Are you not being over cautious Manish??

I would assume that it would also be used as a general security tool. I have cameras trying to identify who has vandalized my cars, including setting one on fire, who threw a bottle at my front window, who tried to attack my exterior doors, etc.

Manish, Sorry to be pedantic, but the person you are employing to look after your child is not technically a 'childminder', but a home childcarer or a 'nanny'. Childminders look after children in their home not the child's home, and they have to do training, be registered with Ofsted, keep lots of records, do observations...... Just because someone looks after children, they are not a chilminder! (I know, I am one!)I think you need to to be totally upfront about this monitoring when interviewing the potential nanny - it rather smacks of 'big brother's watching you'.
