Food at the Acton Arms

Just been for our first meal there. Really good food, reasonable prices, good service and nice atmosphere.  Quite quiet for a Saturday though. It's a funky pub and a good addition for Acton so hope it succeeds. I recommend others check it out and if you like it, spread the word!

Have they sorted out the heating yet?  It's freezing inside which is my only gripe.  Other than that, think it's a good addition.

Hi GemmaHave they got a separate dining room?As you walk in the door there is a large room to the right, i was hoping that this would be the dining room as it looks (from the sneaky peek i had ) like it has an amazing stained glass ceiling.Did you eat in that part or is that room not open?RegardsJamie

I think they plan to refurb that space to create a proper dining room. We ate in the main pub, on one of the tables to the left as you walk in. It was a bit chilly so def worth wearing a jumper! But I think they're trying really hard and it's got the potential to be a good pub. They seem keen to get feedback so if you try it out tell them what you make of it.

This pub is too big and still looks tatty from the outside.  It needs to be broken up into smaller cosy spaces with good lighting.  No doubt the manager would welcome suggestions.  Anyone out there with interior design skills wanting to make a name for themselves?Where does one park?

Parked at Morrisons - no probs as open till 2300. Liked the real fire but it was ever so empty - tho a bit fuller by 2000 - and the service scatty. Food's OK but not fab. I wonder if its all cooked on the premises.Lots of speculation as to what the big room could be used for. I pitched for a theatre!

They have a designer, i met him on the opening night.I think that the outside looks a mess but i think that the interior works well, although people have mentioned that it is cold.Something as basic as that will put people off after 1 visit, or at least that is the case with us

It wasn't cold last night - lovely blazing fire. But I agree with Doris, they may want to break up the rather cavernous space a bit.

We have eaten there a few times and the food has always been good.  They don't have a children's menu, but are happy to serve smaller portions for children.  (That said the Yorkshire puddings they served to our children with their Sunday Roast dinners were the size of soup bowls!) They have had a problem with the boiler and they often leave the main front door ajar to show they are open.  I don't think that helps with the heating issue.They are planning to turn the area behind the fireplace into a dining room.  it is temporary toilets at the moment, as the ladies for the Redback was apparently outside!We were told by staff that they were likely to do more work to the place in 2013.  I really hope people support it, as it was a huge shame to see it standing empty for so long.

Always good to have a well-run, reasonably-priced restaurant in the area. I hope it succeeds, too. If it's any good, it will.
