Attempted break in tonight Willcott Rd

Was drifting off to sleep when I was woken by some loud bangs. Listened for bit, heard nothing then the banging again. Got husband up to have a look and found our back patio French door had been attacked by a hammer or pole of some sort. Glass smashed and holes in the window but they didn't get in. Police have been and are checking the area so be vigilant.

Toughened, laminated, double glazed French door. Glazier said this morning they'd never have got through and it's still secure even in its current state, which is pretty unbelievable because it's a mess. Scary though, really shakes your confidence, and the neighbours didn't hear a thing!

Many thanks for reporting that.  Hope you are all OK - makes you feel a little unsettled.  But well done for fending them off by having the whit to fit toughened glass and for getting out of bed - a lesson for us all.

Also comforting to know that if the perpetrator/s do get caught then the probability of them being dealt with SEVERELY is humungously LOW.

Hi MilenaSo sorry to hear you almost had a burglary on your hands there, but very pleased to hear they didn't manage to get in. Hi Thanks all for your messages, it is very unnerving and i'm not sleeping very well. I can't believe the bashing they gave the window, I'll post a picture if I can remember how. The police have been great. The operator when I dialled 999 took the details, so when the PC's arrived they were on the case and knew where and what they were looking for. They were thorough and supportive but the burglar was long gone. SOCO came out in the morning and fingerprinted the glass, but only found glove prints. I missed a follow up call from a DC last night while i was putting the kids to bed, which I will return this morning.  I can't fault their response and have been reassured by their efficiency. Ana, thank you, I think you have met my husband once on you're rounds, I know your father, but haven't met you yet, I'll PM you and we can have a chat.Thanks again.
