Ealing Parking Service online appalling

Just spent over an hour renewing parking permit online.  Despite the renewal letter saying it can be done on line, it seems that because our road is now K1 instead of K I was forced to reapply from scratch.  The main renewal page just refused to play ball saying my permit number was not residential so I dug around a bit and found this page (http://www.ealing.gov.uk/info/200332/parking/642/controlled_parking_zones/9)It seemed to suggest that applying from scratch itself would be a straight forward matter of entering the existing permit ID when I got to the proof documentation section but there was no option to do this, only skip altogether and post the docs, or scan them in and upload them on line.Thanks Ealing Council, after 7 years living in Acton it seems that you are determined to make our lives as difficult as possible, either by making us queue for hours in your council offices having taken time off work given you don’t open your offices outside of Mon-Fri office hours, or by making the alternative next to impossible to do.

I encountered the same problem. I called the parking dept. and in the end it was agreed that I would post the normal renewal form along with a cheque for the new K1 annual charge (£45 from memory) plus a covering note explaining I was now a K1 rather than a K CPZ resident. Was a nuisance but it did work. Think we can still park in zone K as well can't we?

Yes. K1 and K wholly interchangeable for parking purposes.

K can park south of the uxbridge rd. K1 cannot as far as I am aware. Spent ages yesterday on phone given wrong information how to fill online form by man from parking services, eventually got it sorted by a man called Addie. Permit arrived next day in post. Very stressful. You cannot use your old permit number it's a brand new application.

I have used KI to park south of Uxbridge road in K area and had no problems.

We were told during the consultation that it;'s wholly interchangeable.

Yes you are right. Zone K residents pay £75 for their permits whereas I pay £45 for being a K1 resident yet I am able to park freely in their streets.

Mostly they could have opted for K1 and chose not to do so.
