Acton Lane closure

How on earth can they close part of Acton Lane for 7 weeks starting next week? Essential repairs to the bridge apparantly but 7 weeks?!This will cause major problems and a real nightmare.

This is by no means the only bridge with problems, others include Noel Road near Lynton Road, Acton, also possibly Hanger Lane Gyratory, Park Royal Road, and others affected by HS2

I've personally never tried repairing a bridge, but it's probably more involved than retiling a bathroom.7 weeks will pass quick enough.

That bridge, like many others, is old and has not been properly maintained and painted. It carries very heavy freight, not just London Overground.

I drove along Bollo Bridge Road this morning: signs for the diversion when the bridge works begin were in place butthere are two sets of lights on BBRd where there are road works going on. Hope they are cleared by next Monday, or the diverted traffic will be going very slowly indeed...

The TFL live traffic map says that work starts at 0800 today, but it does not say that the road will be closed at the same time.

There is a report on the Chiswick.com site that the road closure and bus diversions have been postponed until the summer.

Now that council has intervened in putting back until summer time much needed works to the iron bridge down Acton lane, us pedestrians will have to put up with the constant flooding, pigeon shit, no lighting, dangerous sloping slippery walkway covered in pigeon shit, leaking overhead guttering until then. Acton residents have waited twenty years for this underpass to be improved, this spot im afraid is an absolute shit hole if this was Chiswick no doubt it would of been sorted out years ago. Therefore I challenge Labour and what's that other party called oh the Liberals whose constituencies lay either side of the bridge to pay the site a visit. There are many elderly and children that daily walk the gauntlet, this is not only a  health hazard, they are putting themselves at risk to oncoming traffic as many pedestrians tend to walk too near to the road trying to miss the pigeon shit inch's deep on the tarmac.

My response to you on the same posting on W4 applies. I do not believe there is any reason why footpath area cleaning and pigeon control measures cannot occur separately now in the winter months as happened in W4 on Fishers Lane, separate from any major structural works postponed to the summer.

Im certain any major structural work to the bridge would be devoid of cleaning  any of the areas i have suggested, albeit these works could be included in the two weeks shut down.  I have observed street cleaners avoiding this pathway on numerous occasion's, not only is this area dangerous for them less than two feet in width to oncoming traffic the shit builds up the following day, the only remedy is to close the road and eliminate the roosting nests perhaps with underneath netting.

Oh dear Bollo Bridge Road is already such a busy road this is going to cause major disruption.
