Save our day centres meeting 14 January 7pm

Ealing Council are proposing to close 2 day centres in Acton, Stirling Road and Learning Curve. Both provide training, work experience and day to day support for disabled people. A meeting has been organised by Save the Day Centres campaign, supported by Ealing Unison and Ealing Trades Council to fight the proposed closures. This takes place tomorrow night (14 January) at 7pm at Ealing Town Hall. Speakers include threatened day centre users and carers. Please come along, everybody welcome.

Chris, Is there any thought being given to turning the centres into social enterprises? Part owned and run by staff and users, it is a way of ensuring day centres continue running in these days of individual budgets and personalistion?

See story on front page - Council voted last night to shut the 2 centres in Acton. Very sad. It seems that the disabled are bearing the brunt of the cuts.
