Acton Police Ward Panel Meeting Update

All,You'll see on the forum front page, key points from the latest Acton Police Ward Panel meeting, held last Thursday night.There are some interesting crime statistics, and a general update on local policing in our area, together with suggestions on how to avoid current scams in progress.The forum panel will be posting a regular monthly update, in addition to these quarterly meeting summaries, whereby more up to date intelligence can be passed on from our Safer Neighbourhood Team. It is hoped that collectively these will provide local residents with useful information, to ensure a safer community for us all to live and work in.

Thank you for this info Carl; also good to hear that there will be a monthly update, that's really helpful to stay informed like that. Sounds all round like they are doing good work - I seemed to have noticed that there are fewer drunks around in the Mount - but maybe that also depends on time of day.How does one spot if 'goods' get exchanged in Churchfield Road? Anyone any ideas what kind of 'goods' these are other than drugs? Might help to know what I need to look out for. And anywhere in particular in Churchfield Road, which section?

Spotted police attending a 'smash and grab' raid this evening, at Cash Converters, Churchfield Road.Front shelves looked pretty empty.

Hi Susan and Fred, actually your posts are kind of linked.Susan, the "goods being exchanged" refers to stolen goods potentially being taken to the various pawn shops in both Churchfield Road and Acton High Street. These shops have rules on obtaining the idendity of customers who sell/pawn goods, and performing some due diligence in ensuring they are not taking stolen goods. Where these procedures are not happening is where the Safer Neighbourhood Police team are investigating.

thank you for clarifying that Carl; I thought it had descended to stolen goods being sold literally on the pavement somewhere along Churchfield Road, lets hope it won't come to that, hey?

That is probably Acton Central Ward Panel. There are also panels for South and East Acton wards.

Does this ward meeting cover East Acton?  There seems to be no reference to issues or problems in this area.How can I find out the dates of these meetings in time to plan attendance?As Secretary to the East Acton Residents Association it would be particularly useful for a member of our Committee to attend if possible.  A recent residents questionnaire registered a high level of concern on the Crime/Safety questions.

No it doesn't. There is a separate panel for East Acton.

As Peter says there is a seperate panel for East Acton. Our area is Acton Central and the surrounding areas. We'll get a map of the actual area and get that on here to help define the boundary lines.Carl

But the ward forum is different.The Acton central ward forum is on February 6th in st Mary's church hall - at 1930.And I can't go! Yippee.
