Elderly neighbours, cold and snowed in

I hope that we can give our time and consideration to our elderly neighbours in this weather.  They are the invisible population, unfortunately.  It's all too easy not to remember them, especially if we're not friends with them in particular.  I'm sure if I were elderly and snowed in, I'd really appreciate someone taking the time to check on me and offer to run for foods, etc.Thanks.

Our oldest and closest neighbour - aged 92 - has sensibly relocated to Tuscany!Good decision.

Not so brave if you were born there, own a flat (albeit on the fifth floor) just by the main square of one of the prettiest cities and have a brilliant support network there and a rather less good one here.

What a lovely surprise this morning when our newsagent, Mr Patel in Horn Lane, rang the doorbell and personally delivered the Sunday newspaper so we wouldn't have to go out in the snow!I didn't even know he knew our house number!

That's marvellous, Jean.  Fantastic service.  Which newsagent is this please (what number Horn Lane) as it's worth a visit, obviously.  Must keep people like him in business.

Hi Angela, Mr Patel runs J V Newsagents at 142 Horn Lane.I usually collect my paper every day but haven't been outdoors since Thursday!Will this snow ever go away? :-(

At the other end of town, Mr Charmy, newsagent on the High Street does similar things for his customers... I know he's the person to ask about the welfare of a person on his patch
