Unlawful parking fines?

Have you been fined for parking in a ‘suspended’ parking bay in Ealing? If so, read this article.http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-21339117It would appear Ealing Council do not have DfT authorisation for their signs!

So says Neil Davies "a motoring solicitor at Caddick Davies".  I wonder if there is anything in this for him.  If you park in a suspended bay you should be prepared to pay the fine.  To appeal on the basis that the sign hasn't been approved by the DfT seems a waste of time and money to me.  I've seen parking suspended signs in Ealing and it's never been unclear to me whether I should park in them or not.
