Acton Customer Service Awards 2013

My shortlist for the awards are currently....David at Lynch's Opticians who gives clear, calm informative advice and takes a real interest in the eye health of my family.The charming men at Anthony Bell who always give a warm welcome, a great haircut and a nice cuppa.The friendly helpful women on the checkouts at Morrisons.Any other suggestions? I have plenty suggestions for the worst customer service awards too but I'll try to keep them to myself for now.There's too much moaning on this forum already.

I've always found the gentleman who runs Market Place Health Foods very helpful and friendly. Also the man in the little hardware store a bit further down.

The bike shop opposite Acton Central station on Churchfield Road. The staff at Anokha and the staff at the new pancake shop called Poets Corner.

Dave in the paper shop on Acton High Street near the Scope shop. Always very friendly and calls me Mr Tony bless!

The shoe repair/locksmith people in the  Oaks shopping centre.

The staff in Pintos, always lovely. Mr Charmy from the newsagents in the High Street. The lovely family who run Pro Hands. Ricky the chiropodist. Mr and Mrs Lim and Jane at the dentists. The doctors and staff at Mill Hill surgery.

Good positive topic.  Agreed the checkout ladies of Morrisons deserve mention, they are always calm and courteous in what can be a shopping maelstrom.  The service in the Churchfield Road café is friendly and efficient.  The barkeeps in the Red Lion and Pineapple are also friendly and knowledgeable.

Paolo cafe on Uxbridge Road near 3rd Ave great service and nice people, Agree on Morrisons always helpful.

Like the staff in Lavelli - always helpful.  And although I don't buy much in Londis - just go in to pay for my papers - the staff always seem to be efficient and pleasant.  And where would we be without Pearls?

the service along churchfiled road is without exception good - fantastic at the new chemist in the high road and good at hekeket too.only dissent is lloyds in church road, boots and i dont wholly agree about morrisons where i cant forget the response to 'aagh my purse has been stolen' being 'what do yiu expect me to do about it?'

The Chemist's/Pharmacy near the bus stop by McDonalds are always helpful to my Aged Parent (I think they even dropped off a prescription to her once). Also the card shop nearby.

+1 for Tim the Butcher at La Viande. Great service. I don't go in and say 'I want X'. I say 'I am cooking X, please suggest something' and he always shows me something that is perfect for the meal and often throws in a bit extra.+1 for Laveli - always lovely and friendly.-1 for Boots - Pharmacist is an officious jobsworth.

In case anyone is looking for a dentist or chiropodist, are you able to give any more information other than Ricky and Mr Lim?  There's probably more than one dentist in Acton!

Yes both at number 4 High Street at the bottom near the railway bridge (on the left hand side if you are heading to Shepherds Bush). Both are lovely, gentle and very good. Lim Dental surgery 020 8992 4208. My chiropodist (name of the practice) Ricky Bharara 020 8992 4353.

Zahra Chemist 72 acton high street opposite where the swimming pool was are great,  always nice and quiet in there, very  helpful staff and open from the crack of dawn 6.30 until 10.30 pm midweek and open Sat  8.00-8.00 and Sun 9.00-6.00. best chemist in Acton.

I'm with you Jen. And they were fab when I needed my blood pressure taken twice a week. Couldn't have been more helpful.But these 100 hours contracts must be a killer

The Lavelli young women are always delightful but there is a new-ish arrogant, idle young man who seems to talk a lot but not do much - so the girls have to carry him rather.Or is it just OH and me that's noticed?

Only just seen this posting!*The Bell Boys (aka Anthony Bell hairdressers) for being such fun, accommodating (bend over backwards sometimes!) and wicked, not to mention their tea in delightful cups and saucers.  First class service and hearts of gold.*The ace Security Guard in Boots on the High Street who knows everyone, everything and is keen to jump in when the queue is huge......he has eyes in the back of his head.  Well done mate - superb employee and hope you get recognised as such.*Agree with Morrisons comments - the checkout people are very nice.*Sonny in Paint - delightful man and always happy.*Churchfield Cafe - nice, happy owner and staff are pleasant.*Village Trading Store - what a gas Laura and Terry are.  Great place to visit and good service.*Pearls - how does he remember everyone's name?!  Excellent service.*Arthur Razor - this man went out of his way to donate a prize for our school raffle.  Thank you!  *Heart & Soul - very pleasant service by Sue and Reno and generous too.

Can't go wrong with most places on Churchfield Rd - The Station House, Anokha, Franks, Grapevine, Glass/ Ornament Shop, Shams Fish & Chips, Heart & Soul always give my doggy a biscuit, Paint ...There's one exception - I've received bad, nonchalant and poor customer service about 4 times in The Rocket. I don't go anymore.

The man in the homewares shop on Market Street.  If ever I need something 'odd' it's my first port of call, and he usually has it!

Plus 1 one for Cafe Paulo, Acton Vale, best Bacon sandwiches in the area (Paul used to be in Kwick Save opposite until it became Somerfield, now the site of Tesco) also for Menos Lighting... One addition to the list is Diamond Domestic, Old Oak Lane for washing machine etc repairs.....

Hi Sara.  Not sure your "really?" was a comment to my vote on Acton Pet Shop in Crown Street, or not.  I've always found them tremendously helpful and if parking is a problem, they will often run out with my goods and meet me.

Agree with Pearls Dry Cleaners - always able to accommodate my ridiculous last minute requests. Arthur Razor friendly. Never had a problem with the staff at the Rocket, unlike George and Dragon on High Street which was atrocious last time I was in there (a year ago now, not been back as it was so bad). The Acton Central station staff always friendly too. As Sara says, Churchfield Road generally!

No - it was astonishment at poor service at the Rocket. Never been in pet shop!Agree about Acton Central Station staff - always helpful AND they mind the bookswap - in fact are quite possessive about it which is great.

I find Dee's contributions invaluable, in the main.  I can see why Sara and Dee might rub up against each other - Sara, by her own claim, can be a bit of a Pollyana at times (in the nicest sense of course) and poles apart from Dee on that one.

That's quite an assertion,Doris, and mildly defamatory. I read all emails properly and almost all forum posts - even yours!Your evidence please. Especially as we have virtually never had an email exchange.

Oooer Sara's off again!  Come on Sara, Dee is as entitled to her opinion as you are to yours. Not defamatory your honour!  Most people in our local shops are friendly if you're friendly and polite to them. It's only when Telegraph journalists get all snooty and rub them up the wrong way that they get irked (quite understandably).  But Village Trading and Anthony Bell get my vote for the best customer service, and Pearls for the most efficient too.  The staff at Laveli seem to have upped their game recently, probably on account of the competition.

"Sara never reads emails properly."That's the defamatory bit - as you, Anne, a legal executive would surely know. It's given as a statement of fact, not an opinion, it could lower me in the estimation of my clients and it is both untrue and unproveable... which I think pretty much covers the defamation criteria.Three cheers for "Essential Law for Journalists" as taught to news trainees.

No of course I don't - but it has the capacity to do so which is all that matters when an untrue and defamatory statement is made.Don't do fisticuffs - but admittedly do not share a world view with Doris.

Apparently demand for crack cake has diminished - last time I asked there wasn't any.I included Angela Malik really in saying I thought all the way along Churchfield offers good service - but didnt want to enumerate for fear of offending those who think this forum altogether too full of CFR groupies.

I mentioned Crown Street Pet Shop but that got a "really?" !  Not sure it was aimed at my vote but it seemed such, as it followed it.  If it wasn't aimed at my vote, then I think it was unfair and if it was, no elaboration.  I don't think you can say things like "really?" and not qualify it on a public forum.  I think that's unjust.

It wasn't aimed at the Crown St Pet Shop. Sara explained earlier in the thread that she had never been to a pet shop. It was aimed at someone who, if I remember correctly, complained of ?surly service at the Rocket.

Now read your post, Sara.  Concerned as to why I haven't received the notification......perhaps there are more I've missed.  This has happened in the past, if I remember correctly.  And no, N Roberts, it wasn't misinterpreted - it would have helped if Sara had put the reference on there, or the person's name!
