The Taj

Just had our first takeaway from the new restaurant on site of old 3 Spices, and it was sensational..cut above anything I've had in Acton before...(though still love Anokha of course) Think the chef's awards in Scotland were very deserved. Check it out!!

Very encouraging.  I always liked 3spice so it was a shame it was empty so often.  I hope Taj does better.

I loved 3 Spices and was gutted when it closed down.  But then I discoverd the Bombay Bistro and have never looked back.  If I'm not mistaken, the Taj is run by the same people who used to run Namaste on the High Street.  That was also good....but still not as good as Bombay Bistro!

We went to Taj on Monday and enjoyed it very much. very different food from the original 3 spice and from Bombay Bistro and fairly different from Anokha too. Not as original as BB but very tasty.I hope there is room for all of them.

I had a superb take away from them last night. they said they are looking into the introduction of a buffet and a Sunday menu as they have had many requests for this.Carl

We had the set meal for 4 @ £44.95 last night.  Served with papadoms and chutney, any 4 from starter menu, any 4 from main dish, any 2 side dishes, pilau rice and naan bread (of choice).  There was plenty to eat, good food, good service and bring your own alcohol so a good price.

We have just tried The Taj and were very impressed. The choice  of dishes was quite impressive and those we chose were excellently prepared and presented. A pity there were only 5 people in there though. It needs more customers to keep it going. Lets all support the good businesses at that end of Churchfield Road - Fields, Taj, etc.

I noticed at the weekend while walking past that the Taj are now offering a Sunday lunch menu (all you can eat buffet for only £7.95). In addition they are offering a five course lunch weekday menu for £5.95 ( i think it was 5 courses, I'll have to check that - but I recall it was a great deal). Of course now I've posted this I'll unlikely be able to get a table there this Sunday :0)Carl

The Sunday lunch runs from 12.00 until 8 or 9 pm so you could have a curryfest - an early lunch, read the Sunday papers and then have dinner :o)

Maria, as promised here's my feedback on the Sunday buffet.It runs from 12-9 and if possible they like to have a booking to help them gauge numbers.The food, although limited in choice (lamb curry, chicken curry, veggie curry - rice and some bhaji style starter thing) was really tasty. The lamb curry especially was superb.All for only £7.95 per head (with bring your own booze), menas you can't go wrong.Also worth saying that the staff there are delightful and can't do enough to help.Carl

Had the "Set" meal for 2 - takeaway last night, choice of any 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 side, papadoms, chutneys, salad, pilau rice and naan for £24.95!http://tajlondon.co.uk/offers.htmlUnbelievable value and quality and on top of that got a voucher for a fiver off our next takeaway order!Can't recommend them enough
