Just to let people know the Leamington Pub will be closing its doors for the final time week ending the 28th April 2013.

Another Acton pub disappearing, the Leamington has been there for donkey years, shame its going. I have drunk in the a few times in the past when i lived in Acton but my local was the Castle.

Oh that is sad, I really like it in there.  Hopefully it won't just be gastroed or turned into flats.

This is so so sad. My old local. A fantastic, proper, no nonsense pub run by great people. I've been worried about it closing for as long as I've been going there, with so many 'ordinary' locals being redeveloped in one way or another. It's always been such a pleasure to go back to, and I intend to make the most of it before the final last orders.

I have to strongly disagree that the Leamington is not an inviting place. I wouldn't go as far as to say that I'm a regular but I have never felt the slightest bit unwelcome, in fact, completely the opposite. To quote a review on the Beer in the Evening website "Gastro, pine-floored, turquoise-ceilinged wine-bar this ain't but, as my fellow-reviewers point out, this is a pubber's pub".I'm very sad that the Leamington will be closing, almost certainly more to do with the general trend for old fashion boozers to be converted into gastropubs, flats or Tesco metros than the bewildering suggestion that it has anything to do with the industrial site. That, and its proximity to the future crossrail station would be my guess.I'm looking forward to sinking a few pints of Guinness there over the next couple months and I'm going to really miss the place once the bell rings for the last time.

Hear hear Dan.  Before moving away from York Road I would pop into to the Leamington either on my own or with friends for a pint and, most importantly to us, a game of pool or six.  With the fashion to gentrify traditional pubs, the opportunity for a game of wits over the green baize is becoming few and far between.A real loss.

Is it me or are we changing as a society regarding pubs?  In my humble but limited opinion of pubs I would say one has to provide an all round family environment with top notch food these days to be inviting, but that may be just my circumstance.  Anyone or anything that doesn't move with the times may go under.  Having said that, I've never been inside this pub even though it's not far from me.

Not all pubs have to be the same though do they? I think there are now more than enough "pubs" which are exactly as you describe, and fewer and fewer like the Leamington; places to just go for a drink and a chat, maybe a game of darts or watch the football.There's more money to be made from a one size fits all creche-taurant which happens to sell beer, but that's not the only value a pub has.

The Leamington pub whilst not a gastro all inclusive pub per say was a very sucessful community pub> Anne and Tom the Licencees always give a warm welcome to anybody who came in , it will be badly missed especialy by the older crowd. The pub is not closing because it was a commercial failure far from it, Greene King have decided to get rid of a lot of its tenancies and concentrate more on its managed houses. The new propertier will be coverting the upstairs into flats and the bottom section which has to reamain a business will be boarded up until a suitable business decides to rent it.

This is rubbish...I feel sorry for all those people who have used it over the years as a local boozer.It proves Greene King are not really inrterested in pubs or beer,they are just property speculators.We all dread this happening to our local.You're not exactly spoiled for choice for other pubs around there are you?
