North Acton Tennis Courts

There is a suggestion on the EalingToday.co.uk website that the tennis courts are under threat from the council.

that's really sad and odd to me. I learned to play Tennis on those courts and they are very well used.I wonder if they just plan to scrap the grass courts? If that's the case I sort of agree as public grass courts are very difficult to maintain and only have a short season life.Do we know what they plan to do with the space the courts occupy? Given they are well within in the park grounds, I can't think what else they would do with the space - and just converting them back to parkland would only serve (excuse the pun) to eliminate any revenue the courts bring in. Knowing our current council they probably want to want to make a minor adjustment by inserting another tower block underneath the courts.

From what I've seen, those courts are used more than those in Acton Park.

Far more than Acton park, although those two courts have been used more since they made the basketball area.I think the problem is that the courts are not maintained correctly and they even charge for them which I think personally is a joke to charge kids to play tennis at park level, when Wimbledon AELTC is handing over in excess of £20,000,000 per year to the LTA - don't get me started on that lot!!!Carl
