Was that the one close to Shakespeare Rd, on the left coming up from Churchfield?

Yes - even the stump went today.It had to go - was really dangerous to the near sighted or blind and at night - but still, it's been there all the time we have so i wil miss it.

yes it was and unfortunately I was not there to stop the vandals from destroying it,I am certainly going to miss its display of magnificent white blossoms this spring from outside my front door.

It wasn't really vandalism though, was it? It was quite potentially dangerous don't you think.But always sad to lose a tree. I wonder if another one will be planted there.

I wonder if another one will be planted there.Very much doubt it.  They get the chop and, that's it. One of the big ones on Creswick Rd (outside Springfield Gdns) was felled today.

Kathy, I have asked on many occasions for trees to be planted in Goldsmith Avenue, but have been told by the Council that residents do not want them planted outside their houses.Witness the removal of the tree planted at the bottom on the large area outside the 3rd house on the west side.Can I suggest you contact the Borough Arborculturalist and ask that the tree be replaced, and that you do not object to this.

I got one planted outside my house about four years ago - but it was so long after I had requested it that I had forgotten a) that I had and b) who and how I had asked.

They leave the ground fallow for a year and tarmac it over, so if you request it a sapling should be planted next spring.

There is a lot of tree work underway by the council also taking place in Cumberland Park. They have also informed us that they are replacing the missing blossom from the footpath. The former tree had died and the space temporarily left vacant.

The Council tree people are really busy in Goldsmith Avenue too. Maybe it's just they get round to a street or patch every few years and this year it's our turn.

We've had trees removed this side of Horn Lane too.Two in my road plus very large ones in Pierrpoint and CreswickI counted nine large trees in a row downed in Gunnerspury Avenue the other day.

The chestnut trees in Gunnesbury Avenue have to be removed as there is a disease which will destroy them eventually.When I lived by the North Circular, I was told by a tree surgeon that the row of chestnut trees from Chiswick Roundabout to Hanger Lane / A40 junction was the longest row of chestnuts in the world.
