PM 10 Pollution levels reach RED 8

As at 2300 on Wednesday 6 March the PM 10 pollution levels were predicted at RED 7/8 on and around Horn Lane.  It's about time that the effing EA and Ealing council did something about this unacceptable level of pollution, that is slowly but, surely killing us. PM 10s KILL.Pic to follow.

AGREED............the problem appears to be that because you can't see them the local population do not think they can be affected by them.

Nikki,I was very interested in your graphic.  It seems to underline that one of the major sources of pollution around Horn Lane is the Great Western Railway (GWR).  The GWR electrification programme should eliminate this source of PM10s by 2016.  See here:http://www.networkrail.co.uk/improvements/great-western-electrification-delivering-the-plans/Has anyone contacted to TfL to see if they can move bus routes to hybrid?

Interesting map.  Looking right now it seems the high levels follow the A40 and to a lesser degree along the rail lines.

The GWR electrification programme should eliminate this source of PM10s by 2016So we have another three years of invisible death to contend with.  While the industrial plant remains, the PM 10 issue will not be resolved.

Nikki,I was only trying to understand what is going on as I have heard about this issue but don't understand what is driving it.  Is there any research or other documentation on sources of PM10s?  Especially industrial sources.  Has anyone been talking to TfL?

PhilHanson cement plant and the Gowing and Pursey waste transfer plant are known polluters.  From the FOI G&P we fined, but, that is as far as it goes.  The council say they are monitoring the site but, I have seen no evidence of this.Angie Bray is very active on the subject of pollution, but our Labour Councillors are mute on the subject, just can't wait for the 2nd May 2014.  We need a change for the better.

Phil, isn't it the bus operators who have to buy or lease the buses?  I know it was different with the new (expensive) Bus For London, with TfL having to buy the whole fleet to get a realistic price.If the 266 franchise is up for renewal soon, then Metroline and Tfl should definitely put more emphasis on hybrid buses, but the same should be said of any bus route.
