Mobile Internet - which provider is best

I have been with Orange for more years than I can remember, I have had an iphone for the last couple of years and I my contract runs out in May. I have always found with Orange that trying to connect to the internet other than with wifi is absolutely rubbish. Has anyone got any suggestions as to which provider is good especially in and around London - 3 is worse than Orange as we cant get reception either at home or in the salon

It really depends on where you are but Churchfield Road is very patchy on all networks.  O2 seems much better than Orange though, but still poor around the shops by Acton Central.

At home - Woodhurst Road and at the salon - Churchfield Road are both pretty useless, but I can use wifi so that isn't too much of a problem, it is more when I am out and about, even in central London, that I find it is generally as good as useless.

Something my eldest showed me the other day: go to settings, switch on airplane mode,leave for a few seconds and switch back off. Sorted mine out. I've honestly never had many probs with orange and this is my 4th year now. 02 do seem to have better and wider coverage though.

I switched to O2 who are better than 3 and Orange but still not that great.

rootmetrics are doing very detailed measurements of mobile networks at present - involving tens of thousands of calls and data uploads / downloads around the UK.http://www.rootmetrics.com/uk/compare-operators/The pattern that has emerged so far is that the networks that have historically made the biggest deal out of their coverage (o2 and vodafone) actually have the worst coverage - not a great surprise though given their 3g coverage is around 90% of the population compared to more than 98% for Three and the Everything Everywhere brands.
