New businesses on Churchfield Road

I counted 9 new businesses opened in the last two years today, Bike repair,Taj, La Viande, Cupcake Avenue, Field's, Arthur Razor, Anokha, Poet's Corner and of course Sainsbury's. That doesn't include the expansions of Heart and Soul and Nara's beauty salon. I believe there is to be the a new off license next to Pro hands and  a new vintage clothes shop too. I also saw some development next to the St Mary.s being painted white and red. It seems to have exploded!!Great to see such enterprise and hope it spills onto the High Street which really needs some custom.

So did I - with flats above.To go against my Pollyanna-ish reputation: Poet's Brasserie closed almost immediately, we lost the Christian bookshop, the sari shop and two pubs and Tim the butcher is in flux/transition/danger. And I think what is described as "vintage" is actually a charity shop.Apart from that, it's fine!

Saturday morning popped into Field's with my daughters for a coffee and a cake (red velvet cake/custard tarts/meringues) - delicious, the girls were pleased to bump into a schoolfriend. Then walked down to Pro Hands said hello to Sonia and the girls and booked a manicure for next week.  Short stop in Cupcake Avenue to discuss cupcake decorating parties for my daughter's birthday party with Alpa - sounds great. Admired Sue's flowers as I walked past Heart & Soul but last week's arrangement (courtesy of Laura)  still looking beautiful at home, and nipped into Sainsburys for some milk. On to the Village Trading Store for a browse and to pick up some greetings cards and a little present for a friend, very tempted by their gorgeous Tuscan sheepskin coats/jackets. Next stop Angela Malik for some chilli jam and mango powder, busy cookery class going on in the back but Angela popped out to say hello, and finally into Lavelli for some delicious bread. Walked back home with a lovely warm sense of community!

My mum was bouncing around this afternoon with joy at how well her Mother's Day flowers from Heart & Soul have lasted.And apparently there's progress at Park & Bridge too - maybe opening April after the odd hiccup.

Delighted that Park and Bridge is finally on the way. The picture in their email tonight looks amazing. They seem to be packing plenty of wine into a very small space.

We went back to Field's today after getting drenched in the rain. Lovely hot chocolate and coffee revived us and the carrot cake was truly devine.

Yes it was astonishingly bad- I went once early on and kept thinking I should give it another go when it settled.But I am not sure it ever did.
