Looking for a house in Poet's Corner

We are looking to move house within Poets's Corner. We have sold our house in Chaucer Road and are looking for a 4/5 bed place - ideally on Woodhurst, Maldon, Goldsmiths, Baldwyn etc but have a reasonably open mind. We were very close to exchange on a property but have just been gazumpted so we are ready to move quite quickly.Anybody looking to sell who wants an easy process please get in touch! Having sold our house and then been subject to the worst of human nature and greed I can safely say I know why moving is rated as being one of the most stressful life experiences!Thank you in advance!Anna

Number 18 Goldsmith Avenue has been on the market some time - an unusual property!Things along here get snapped up incredibly quickly - no 11 had a sold sign up within about a week - with an asking price of £1.15 million!I spoke to someone else madly hunting for something similar who said she hadn't moved fast enough on two or three since Xmas.And I thought it all a bit overpriced!

Cast your net a bit wider, Avenue Road, Avenue Gardens, and Mill Hill Road are really quite lovely. Good luck.

...having lived in the Avenue Road area --- do take account of the Council Housing located behind.

Some of the houses in the mill hill area have incredibly big gardens, worth taking a look.

Don't forget the other side of the track too, around the Goldsmith estate. Plenty of big houses around there, with quiet streets.

There is a 4 storey house for sale on Allison Road - No 9 - not sure of price but worth looking in to.

There's nothing wrong with the "council housing" behind avenue road and anyhow if there is don't fret it going to be "regenerated"

Thank you all for your advice!  We will look/have looked at anything that comes up via agents and the net is spread wide - our preference is to stay as close as possible to where we are now as we are so happy here.

Biased, as I lived there for 18 years until I downsized last summer......but First, Second and Third Avenues in Acton Vale provide good family houses in a nice location. C.£650 to £770k.......

Maybe not: over half a million quid gets you an outdoor loo downstairs and one bedroom with no access to a bathroom - except through the other bedroom.Can't think qyite who would find that ideal.
