Churchfield Road Drug Ratds - name and shame

Anyone know which shops were involved in these raids?

You can smell the stink of hash s you walk past the cafes at the bird poo ene dof Churchfield Rd.  I exclude Fields it's the others there always look and smell a bit suspect!

The two nearest pubs are closed. (Sheepwalk and that irish bar), no doubt for conversion into slave boxes.

Two cafes on Churchfield Road have been the scene of a drugs operation this afternoon. Come one someone must know the names of the cafes involved?

It is surely not right to talk about boycotts or any other kind of action on the basis of unsubstantiated rumour or gossip.

I think fact has been proven about drug use and dealing, hence the arrests and warnings.

why are people suggesting a boycott of the cafes? Do you know for a fact that the owners are promoting drugs within their premises? Are they supposed to body search everyone who enters? In these austere times, they are I'm sure happy to serve people who can pay for thier meals - it's unfair to tag them as affiliates of any drug dealers. Could it be that there are people in there who carry drugs for personal use, or even to sell that just happen to pop in for a coffee and a bun? Even drug dealers shop in supermarkets and dare I say one or two may have even been patrons of the high end cafes in the area, and perhaps even sampled the much fabled red velvet cake in their time.Let's get the facts before we make life even harder for the local retailers.Carl

I did say 'perhaps'........We are all aware of the drug problem in Churchfield Road and the Police efforts to stamp it out - thus the arrests -in the past one such establishment at that end of Churchfield Road was closed over such a problem.Are you all saying that breaking the law is OK?

I think the owner of a small coffee shop would find it hard not to notice a drug dealer on their premises. They are not particularly hard to spot on Churchfield road. Sitting in cafés all day, recieving constant phone calls and a constant flow of people to "shake their hand".It is eveyrones responsibility to report these matters to the police so they can gather evidence to enable them to do drugs raids. But for a shop owner to turn a blind eye to dealers on their premises? You are aiding the offence in my opinion.

Dee, not at all sure how you think someof the posts on here think it's ok to break the law. "Perhaps" can be a very powerful word - that's all I'm saying.Peter, I agree if the dealing was going on in the cafes and the owners were aware of it, then yes, of course they are implicated. However, at this stage I don't think any of us knows, so perhaps best to reserve judgement until the investigation is completed?Perhaps the point we have all missed is that the police have once again taken the bull by the horns and looked to tackle the dealers head on - for that I think they deserve our praise.Regards, Carl

Maria, let's hope the person running the cafe did indeed report the dealing to the Police.Perhaps the Police could give us an update on the situation - n order that local residents can help them with their investigations.

Carl, thanks for that.  More clear and concise information is required from the Police, as the need for this type of illegal activity to be stamped out before it gets hold is essential.  Although some would possibly agree that it already has a firm hold in the Churchfield Road area.

I was just thinking exactly that and wondering how often Doris patronised (if that's the right word) these establishments.We have quite liked the Mangal but it's gone through so many iterations that I'm not sure we've been in under this one.

All I can say, during my 3 years in Kalinka, when Kalinka was kalinka, we had noticed activity in the area, we expelled, banned, and contantly had to report individuals then,however up to today there is a camera in both ends of Churchfield Road and it is frustating to see the Police to finaly do something after 5 years??, specialy when a coffee shop opens in the area!!! but please, the raid was done at 2.30pm??? At least wait until they wake up. I suppose is like they say "Is better to be late, rather than never"
