Hi AnnemarieFive years ago I was diagnosed with COPD, which hospitalised me for eleven days, but quickly recovered, with very little loss of respiratory function. I was still able to walk the dog in Springfield Gardens and, carry on as usual. Over the past few years, when the pollution levels go above level 4, I notice that my chest starts to tighten, this is mostly rectified by the use of a Salamol inhaler, but if infection sets in, then I have to resort to antibiotics. Since the PM 10 pollution levels started to increase over the past couple of weeks, combined with the cold weather, infection set in,seriously affecting the respiratory system. I called my GP on the Tuesday (2nd April) was prescribed antibiotics but, had to phone the ambulance service on the 3rd. Rapid response attended and managed to stabilise me on nebulisers and oxygen. Was`then taken to Central Middlesex Hospital, where the aggressive treatment was performed. After chest X-ray, there is no significant change in the comparison from five years ago.I live on Grafton Road, at the Horn Lane end, although the Horn Lane monitoring site does not directly monitor my address, the pollution levels are enough to cause problems with respiratory disease, so yes, I am blaming PM 10 pollution from the Horn Lane Industrial site as the main cause. Why is there a concrete batching plant, which expanded without planning permission, a waste transfer site, who have been fined in the past, and, who continuously breach the pollution laws, doing in a residential area.At the CCA meeting in November 2012, Julian Bell was faced with the pollution issue. He was unable to answer either the questions posed by Rosco or myself and, has not done so to this day. Julian Bell and the combined councillors of Acton Central and East Acton remain mute on the pollution issues surrounding the local area.Pics of site and myself attachedNikki
