Expedia #fail. How not to sell a plane ticket...

Me: I have this complicated journey to organise - can you help me?Call centre man: I surely canMe: It's London to Pisa, Pisa to New York, New York to LondonCCM: Did you say Ibiza?Me: No, Pisa - where the leaning tower is.CCM: Where is that?Me: (stunned) Pisa, Italy, the place with the leaning tower.CCM: No sorry, never heard of it... where is that?Me: Where are you? And have you really never heard of the leaning tower of Pisa?CCM: India, and sorry have never heard of PisaMe: Hmm. I'm not sure you can help. Terminates call.(and collapses in quivering heap)

I use Expedia a lot to buy flight/hotel combinations and find them excellent, but I don't think they'd be my first port of call for a flight only, especially one that isn't a straightforward out-and-back between two airports.

Happens all the time, except in Trailfinders.Easier to organise separate legs yourself, of course leaving plenty of time for transfers.  Always wise to check out airport name.With Sat Navs and the internet, map reading is already nearly defunct in the young.  Good thing for those who want to 'get away' from it all of course - as those who cannot read maps will all only be visiting the boring places!

But this was effectively a travel agent!Later on Expedia exerted really undue pressure on me to buy a straight flight to Milan through them when it was much cheaper elsewhere.Maybe some training needed.Multi-destination is obviously not going to work anyhow...so am starting from scratch.

The training should begin at school in the geography class!!  Not in the work environment.Obviously the person who interviewed the member of staff you spoke to is the person who needs training in how to employ the right kind of people.

I had a similar experience with a bank call centre. I was going to Jersey and wanted to know if I would be charged for using my card - i.e. was it classed as outside of UK. The person in the call centre in India has no idea where Jersey was and asked me for the postcode of it!
