Lavellie's staff attitude

Just wanted a coffee and a cake but the  staff could not be bothered ! No dishwasher so they only served in paper cup ! When I told him he could wash by hand he told me " I suppose so " starting to make it while moaning in front of the coffee machineNot his job apparently  I told him not too bother and I will take my custom somewhere else ! Someone told me that this guy was rather rude but now I believe it !!! Shame about some staff Well now having a crepe and a coffee at Creperie poets corner !!

Did you speak to the Manager?... there are plenty of unemployed people I am sure would take this person's place.Not good enough I'm afraid.

I had a problem with a rather surly youth who addressed everyone as "mate" to which I took some exception.He then refused to serve me so I left without getting any coffee: one of he lady members of staff then rolled her eyes rather visibly!I called their W12 shop,reported this incident but never received any callback.

I'm only aware of one male member of staff - does weekends often. But I may be out of date.Apparently the station coffee shop is about to open (again) under new management

It's such a shame, but I have to agree - the staff in Laveli are so rude and offhand.  They should take a leaf out of the book of chains like Cafe Nero, Starbucks, etc.  Their staff are always super friendly.

I normally go to the cafe across the road.  Cheaper and they are always polite.

It's a funny one this. I thought it was just me, sometimes they are really nice and can't do enough and at other times I too find them a little dismissive.Pleased it isn't just me who thought that - I was starting to think it must be me and not them.Carl

I am pleased I am not the only one I went to the Chiswick branch yesterday and asks for contact details but she was not allowed to give it to me She was not surprised when I explained why and told me " Acton shop is going down ..." what ever that meant They were so nice over there and you even have a proper terraceI hope the owners read this forum

young bloke with tattoos? Always seems distracted when serving. ignores you for ages and chats whilst serving you to the other staff. I don't go in there anymore.

Andy, I agree. I've been going to the Station cafe for years not. Heida and Russell make a great cup of coffee for far less than the bakers. Recently I've noticed the hardcore Lavelli clientele slowly migrating over the road to the Station Cafe.It's a shame because some of the staff are very nice at Lavelli's (sometimes) and their bread is great, although I think their cakes are a bit over priced for what they are - but then in fairness, I think Angela Malik's cakes aren't all that great (yes I know I'm in the minority there) - I also find the smell of stale curry from the cookery school puts me off a bit too.Carl

I had a nice and concerned reply form the owners of Laveli last night which was pleasing I must say They haven't had a manager for a long time now and looking for one I am sure this will help a lot.Happy to know I may still be going for my usual at the w/e

Philippe, Why not venture down the other end of Churchfield Road and try Field's for your coffee? Nice friendly staff, and a good cup of coffee!

That's the problem isn't it? Long hours and low pay. When they started I think the owner Veronica was the a lot. But she's had at least one baby since then.It seems mostly to be a problem with just the one chap.

That guy used to irritate the bejesus out of me.I don't object to being called 'mate', per se.Tim at English Butchers calls me 'mate' all the time and it is fine because of how he says it.He is welcoming and pleased you are there- we have a chat and it is a pleasant experience.When Snotty-Emo-Dude at Lavelli's says 'mate' there was a tacit 'what the hell do you want' behind it.It was a tone/manner/demeanour problem for me, rather than his use of the word 'mate'.He was simply rude and arrogant, plus lazy.Also he'd go out for a fag and come back, not wash his hands.Consequently I stopped going to Lavelli's for a while because I couldn't be bothered with the attitude.Hopefully they dealt with the situation, otherwise there are other cafe's and bakers in the area I'll go to.

'Long hours and low pay' should not be the reason to give a poor service....but an incentive to be better than the next person in order to gain a promotion and with it, higher pay!

Doris, "long hours and low pay" make it difficult to retain the best staff and managers. It's not an excuse for poor service but a reason why staff turnover is high - unless you are someone who couldn't get a better job, in which case you maybe stick with it and give poor service!

This guy was there yesterday, not serving but rolling his cigarette, sprawled out across a chair.  I found it incongruent with a small coffee shop and my thought was "I hope you're going to wash your hands if you smoke and come back to serve" but I left before he did.I agree.  Not a nice place re the attitude.

I saw he was back in today.He was a bit better behaved though- seemed friendlier than usual.Everyone deserves a second chance I guess.

We went yesterday for our usual He was  dressed less cassualy and looks like he washed his hair When we left he followed  us outside and wanted to know if " I was the guy with the problem last week "  I said he was the one wiith the attitude He mentioned that  he  "only wanted to apologies man ..... ". And walked off Enough for me but I am not sure it was the correct approach Al least he tried " man " !!
