Any problems with young blokes on scooters?

Bunch of them are hanging around in our street for the second night running.Just rather loud but i'm a bit worried about what they might be up to.Anyone had similar problems with them?I am in West Acton.

A large group are occupying a house at the top end of Goldsmith Avenue.  The police have already spoken to them.  Beware turning in to Grafton Avenue to Goldsmith Avenue (or vice versa) as they are cutting off the corner.  One nearly ran into us yesterday.Suggest you contact the local Community Police Office if they are causing a problem.

Mods!!??I think the days of Quadrophenia are largely behind us - lots of younger perople ride scooters now - hardly a suprise when you look at car prices, petrol and insurance.Although I agree, too many of them seem blissfully unaware of road safety.Carl

Those same idiots caused me to break hard on Goldsmiths as they weaved all over the place.  Young stupid and irresponsible.  I wonder if they have insurance!  Counted 5 scooters this morning.Keep death off the roads, drive on the pavement.

Hi Jamie,Acton Central Safter Neighborhoods are aware of this problem - I have called them many times to report this as they cause a nuisance and often ride on the pavements.  I've been told that there are actually a large number of residents around North Acton playing fields that have also reported it however nothing seems to have come from it.  Perhaps report it to Safer neighborhoods.  I've spoken to them about it before and they said that they will follow up reports, and eventually there could be a possibility that the mopeds are found unroadworthy and then confiscated.  It's frustrating because they're quite blatently selling drugs but unless caught in the act I guess there's not much the police can do.

Called the Police the last 2 nights, first time they missed them but they got 3 of them last night and moved them on.The officers who attended said to just keep reporting it on the 101 number.To be honest i don't think these particular lads are selling drugs.I cleaned up their rubbish and there weren't even any beer cans. Police searched them all last night too.More than anything they just make a racket and are leaning on peoples cars and such and disturbing people.

I've been quite tenacious about calling the 101 number until I realised that a fee actually applies to make a 101 call.  It is a really small fee, something like 15p but its more the principle that I keep calling and nothing can be done.I'm around the same age as some of the kids, and also grew up in the area - I'm quite certain they are involved with drugs.

Last night at the West Acton Residents Association meeting there were complaints about groups on mopeds using North Acton Playing Fields and the surrounding roads as a race track and doing wheelies.  The police response that people should take number plates and they will follow up by checking their vehicles for safety seems to be entirely inadequate.  To my mind if residents feel intimidated or disturbed by an illegal activity that is continuing they should dial 999.  I will take up with Acton cluster supervisor.

When I was walking the dog on Friday evening I noticed a couple of constables pulling over several young scooter tearaways on Goldsmith Avenue. I went past on my scooter at least five times. Ssadly they refused to believe I was either young or a tearaway

A few years ago I lived on Allison Road. Because of it's double dead ends it was a ideal street for gangs of drug dealers. They were dealing very openly, with young couriers coming and going on bicycles.Some of the residents took it upon themselves to document the goings on, times, descriptions, number plates etc.The police advised us not to interfere but the intelligence we were gathering was of interest to them.The whole set up suddenly disappeared, we believe as a result of a police operation. We liked to believe that the neighbourhood 'spying' had something to do with it.
