FOR CLARIFICATION - GRAFTON ROAD ONE WAY SYSTEM

'Dear Mrs Cook, Thank you for your e-mail.  I did not stop the one way system. By law the council mustdo proper consultation before taking any action. The consultation included 1124 properties from which 230 responses were returned, a 20.5% response rate. Of these responses 42.6%(98) were in favour of option 1 which proposed the introduction of passing places in Grafton Road. 49.1% (113) were in favour of option 2 which proposed the introduction of one- way working and the removal of the road  closure at Crane Avenue. 8.3% (19) were in favour of doing nothing.  It was recommended amending the proposals to remove a section of residents parking bay and provide a double yellow line to improve visibility between pedestrians and vehicles at this location.In summary the implementation of one way system at Grafton Road with cycle contraflow, and removal of existing road closure in Crane Avenue will proceed. This was explained at  the Ward Forum on 22 May. I hope this explains the outcome of the consultation and the approval of the one-way system at Grafton Road. The Council left all sorts of stuff on the pavement in Grafton Road a month or so ago, there was also a notice stating when work would start.First the notice disappeared and then the pavement was cleared so there was nothing to say that work would start any time soon.

An electronic sign has gone up by A40/AML saying there will be lots of disruption at this location from, I think, next week, so I assume the work is starting.It's going to be a nightmare while it goes on, so let's hope the end result improves the junction.

I think it must be for the roundabout works at the bottom of Steyne Rd and top of Gunnersbury Lane - there was a mobile sign at Ealing Common, too. Works to start 5 August until November(!)

Wonder if this is being paid for from the £100,000,000 SPARE cash the council have got?  They could use some of that cash, fleeced from us, to sort out Grafton Rd.

Ah yes, apologies, getting my road schemes mixed up!I worked in Chiswick for nearly 20 years.  It used to be a nice area, it's a shame it's disappeared right up it's own a**e and the forum is just an extension of what it's become, unfortunately.

My siding up with Claire M was my downfall, still I give as good as I get.  Acton Taliban, demilitarized zone, and sexual references are the insults thrown at us Actonians, by those W4 idiots who think they are better than us.  At least they are terrified to venture onto Churchfield Rd.  Even the nasty Colin Carroll turned up on W4.  Only posted once..revenge is sweet. At least W3 is civilized and what a forum should be.

I still cannot see the need for this scheme. This will cause problems in other streets as people rat run to avoid Horn Lane. Passing places would be the cheapest and easiest solution.

The problem is that Grafton Road/Goldsmith Avenue is already being used as a rat run, and those trying to traverse speedily are those using it as such, and not local residents.

Hi AngelaIt shouldn't affect you.  It will run from the junction of Messaline west to Horn Ln.  The gates need to be removed at Cumberland/Crain for access to Baldwyn and Goldsmiths.

I received.on 14th Aug., the following email from Councillor Crawford :-Dear Mr. Grant,I've been informed by officers that they expect the works to commence by the end of the end of August - and that notices have been issued to that effect.
