SOUTH ACTON BUY-TO-LET SALES

I was interested in your article in relation to buy-to-let sales in the Bollo Bridge Road area in South Acton. As the regneration manager for the area (though writing in a personal capacity) you should note that these sales are NOT flats at Charles Hocking House or other nearby Council blocks but are sales of plots sold off-plan at the new Acton Gardens phase 1 development nearby. Land registry often associate sales to the nearest postcode clusters if a property has not yet been allocated one by the Post Office.Right-to-Buy sales in the majority of the estate have, in fact, been frozen following the service of Demolition Notices in September.

Caine House was brought forward in the regeneration programme because of its poor condition and the fact that new fire regs would have required around £0.25M expenditure to bring it up to the required standard: Not good value considering it's short life.The planning consent requires Acton Gardens to demolish the block before they start phase 3 and turn it into a temporary park. This is to mitigate the loss of South Park. A new larger park (West Park) is to be provided later on in the programme, when the Caine House site will eventually be developed for housing.Do feel free to contact me at colleyd@ealing.gov.uk if you or any readers have any South Acton queries. Question. I hope there will be no building on what is left of the South Acton Rec as it has been reduced in size with the railway siding part being built on!

Hello Tony, there are no plans to build on the South Acton rec.Although there are new homes where the sidings used to be, All Saints Road was reprofiled to give back more than was used for development: It's actually bigger in area now than it used to be.
