What an interesting idea. I'm not clear how it will differ from a normal screening.

The lights don't dim as much during the screening plus the sound isn't as loud- things that an autistic child can be sensitive to. Plus the audience is made up of families in similar circumstances so they are more tolerant of any disruption from the child. I think it's a brilliant idea.

I wish they would just turn the sound down anyway. I have to put tissue in my ears every time I go in to avoid being deafened.Sounds like a great idea. Hope they get enough takers to make it worthwhile and keep it going.
A number of theatres these days put on what are called 'relaxed' performances - meant for those with autistic conditions, sensory or communcation disorders or learning disabilities. Regarding your comments about sound - I stopped going to cinemas about 15 years ago because of the over loud sound.

Everyone but you and I seems to be deaf already, Nina, and can't hear unless the sound is jacked up to maximum.The Waterman's usually has acceptable sound levels, although even they had it ratcheted up when I was there on Friday.
No, another non-deaf person here! I love musical theatre, but always sit at the back whenever possible because everyone is mic'd these days, and horribly over-amplified. Stopped going to the cinemas years ago...
