Review of a Chiswick Beauty Salon by a very disgruntled customer: (ouch - crosses legs!))
"Went to this salon for the first time today. I will never go again; I advise everyone else not to go there. I asked for a hot wax Brazilian. The wax, or the beautician's technique, was not good - it didn't come off smoothly and the technician was just ripping it out in clumps. Ow! I couldn't stand the pain so she did a little extra with strip wax - again, not very competently, as she did not stretch or hold the skin and was simply pulling at very tender bikini area. I couldn't bear the pain so stopped before she had finished with the waxing about 3/4 done and covered in blobs of wax.So far, just a mistake, you ask for a discount and leave, yes? But this is where it gets interesting. I waited for the manager and said I wanted a discount, as not satisfied. The manager was very abrupt, went immediately to talk to the beautician, while ignoring me. I said unless she listened to me and offered a discount I would simply leave without paying.Then it all kicked off! I have never seen someone behave as the manager did in a professional environment. I understand it's her salon and so she must take total responsibility for what happened next. My only interpretation is that she is mentally ill. Here's what happened."I've got you on CCTV!" she hissed. "So you can't leave without paying!" I protested. "Actually, no, get out!" She pointed dramatically to the door."GET OUT OF MY SALON!" she shouted. "You've insulted my beautician. I knew when you came in you were the type who would try to get a wax for free. You made up your mind you wouldn't pay before you even came in!"$0$0$0$0$0I hadn't insulted her beautician. On the contrary I had said the girl did her best to help rectify the situation, and I didn't want to get her into trouble.$0$0$0Readers, I'm a 39 year old, professional, well-off woman. I'm quite posh. I was wearing comfy, mummyish clothes. I didn't look like someone trying to blag a free wax. Anyway, what does that person looks like?! Who would leave half-waxed and in pain? Where's the benefit there? Oh yeah, great, a free half a wax?! It gets better. I said she shouldn't be running a business if she was so unprofessional and suggested to the 4 beauty therapists who were watching this unfold that they get other jobs, as I didn't think this salon would be in business very long. to be fair, I was quite narked by this time, but I still didn't raise my voice. She shouted again "I defend them, not you, get out!" She came over to where I stood by the door and put her hand on my arm angrily, I suspect to actually throw me out. I said "Don't touch me." She said to me in a threatening voice "Bad things will happen to you before six o'clock tonight!!" I thought I must have misheard - because that's bonkers, right? So I started to leave while she repeated her assertion about me being the type of woman who wanted a free wax. I got angry and came back into the salon arguing. I think I said something lame like "I'm just a normal woman!" I was a bit shocked by this time.As I left again I tripped on the doormat, I was a bit shaken up. The manager stood behind the desk, pointed theatrically and said "Ha, ha, ha, serves you right! Bad things will happen to you by six o clock!At this point I was almost laughing that an adult would say something like this. So were the girls in the salon. I shouted to her as she walked off - "Your staff are laughing at you because you are so ridiculous." Then I left. I have never had an experience like this before. I wouldn't have believed it if someone else told me. I do hope you believe it and steer clear of this rather sad, very angry, and totally unprofessional local businessperson."
