Rubbish collections and Enterprise/ ealing council

It has now been 10 days since we last had a rubbish collection and I have phoned everyday to complain and have receive several differnts reasons why!! but still no collection. I have lived on Sir Alexander Road for 20 years and we have had a bin collection every Monday morning between 8.30 and 9.30am (accept on bank holidays), 10 years ago they told us we had to purchase skip bins from them so we did purchase 7 of them ( 30 flats total in 5 blocks of 6) they even charged us £375 per bin. now they have no record of this and say our collection is on a Wednesday, the incompetence is immense. all 7 bins are full to overflowing with black bin sacks growing in a huge pile everyday. We have been promised a collection evryday of this week so far but it has not happened, Help us from drowing under a sea of smelly rubbish, what can we do????

DianaDo you still not have any recycling facilities?  Your rubbish would be reduced if people separated and squashed large plastic bottles and flattened cardboard.  I don't see any incentive to if it all gets hidden in a black plastic bag.Councils sometimes offer a discount on the Eurobins if you swap them for recycling ones.  What is happening with the other flats in the area?  (I know that Nina started another thread because she was having trouble again.)Even better if the council could come up with a food waste collection or compost bins.  Do you have a gardener and would they/could they compost vegetable waste?  Or a wormery or hot waste composter.  These would help to reduce the amount of "smelly" waste.  A Residents' Association Gardeners Club?

no recycling collections and still no rubbish collections, me and my neighbours have now called the council every day since Monday and spoken to serveral different people and it has not made a difference,

Well Kate Crawford is just down the road. I don't understand this. There is a form on the website which I completed when Eterprise missed a few collections just after they took over the contract. An automated reply apologised and told me the missed collection would be picked up by close of business the day following. And so it was. Why would they not pick up your stuff?

House with kerbside collections but the principle is the same surely. You tell them they have missed a collection and they come and pick it up the following day.

I can imagine that they could manage to send the wrong type vehicle because you're living in the wrong type of place!I thought Phil Taylor might help you but its the Northfield Ward Forum tonight.  Nina lives in a flat too and there is a thread from 6 yes SIX years ago telling of how she is trying to get some sort of recycling for her block of flats.  There is a thread just a little way down started by her a fortnight ago as she has obviously been having problems with non-collection recently too.

Diana,Sorry to hear that this is still not collected as of this lunchtime.  I have written to the head of the service and he has responded.  Please contact me if it is not cleared.  I am afraid this is only one of 2,600 missed collections a month.  The Enterprise contract is still not as it should be.

Thank you so much Phil whatever you said brought the bin men out in a flurry, they collected on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Nice and lean now with no smell, really appreciated your help.Best regardsDiana

Hurray!  Recycling Week appears to have bypassed Ealing Council.Funny that the West London Waste Authority website had and has quite a lot on it about Recycling Week but it doesn't seem to be obviously linked to LBE's website...  which since the LBE is the leading Council on this Authority seems a terrible waste of publicity.There are all kinds of events listed on their calendar.
