Have also experienced a similar issue on Gunnersbury Lane, directly opposite Acton High. You press the button, the registration light turns red, then it goes out, and you're left waiting to cross for ages before you realise you need to press it again.I also hate those new style crossing indicators which encourage you to look down at the screen where you press, rather than across the road where you're going. I guess it's cheaper not to have to install the 'little men' on the opposite pole, but I think it's dangrous, and counter-intuitive.
