There have been many calls to ban these lanterns.It's one of those issues where the amount of time, and distance between the large fires result in little being done.And no doubt the evidence, the lantern, could be destroyed in a large fire (they appear to be made of long, thin, skewer like bamboo rods, and tissue paper), so there might only be eye witness evidence to go on.I've seen them for sale in pound shops. They had very basic safety warnings on the packaging, (mainly on how to light them safely). Reality is, nobody knows where and when these lanterns are going come down.
