What a Rip Off

Needed a new watch battery, so CHR was the only option.  So parked on CHR outside the jewelers, probably get a PCN for that.  Sorry LBH, Blue Badged, and I will challenge in court.Back to the point.  The jeweler took one look at the watch and said £25:50 for a TAG.  How can they justify that price for a battery that costs £6?  Seems like they get you on the make of the watch, is that is a rip off or, is it Chiswick prices gone mad in this heat?

If this is the jeweler formally known as Soni or some such, it is renowned as a rip-off. Mark you, mine cost a small fortune to replace recently in Timpsons in Selfridges.

It was the jeweller formally known as Soni.  The last time I had the battery replaced (4 yrs ago) was at the jewellers in the Oaks and, only cost £6.  Pity they have closed.

I was told that the battery for my watch(a Tissot) would be in the region of £34 and it would need to be sent back to the manufacturer because it needed the waterproof seal put back when the battery had been replaced.  I said I didn't care about it being waterproof, but no joy.  Took it to Courlanders in Richmond where they put in a new battery for around £6, as long as I didn't need it to be waterproof.  Guess where I always go for replacements now!

Try the shoe/watch repair place in Ealing Broadway Centre (below Argos).  They were quite reasonable and offered a guarantee.

We've bought watch batteries  in the past from the hardware/everything shop on Market Place - the man there charges just a few pounds and will fit the battery too.

You can buy watch repair kits on Amazon for under £4, and watch batteries for under £2.  I've been changing my own watch batteries as well as friends and family's for years without any problems.
