Gowing & Pursey yard neat & tidy as a pin - you'd think there's a Royal Visit tomorrow?!

Walked past tonight around 5:00 pm and you could have eaten your dinner off the yard!Plant, skips & machinery all neatly & tidily parked.Place looks immaculate.A case of "Immaculate Deception"??!!

Oh there'll be plenty of BS flying around tomorrow allright.Unfortunately for the local tight chested, gritty eyed & raspy breathed residents, it is far easier for "The Powers That Be" to swallow the BS wholesale than to do their taxpayer funded job/s properly.WHY does nobody ever get fired from Public Service for incompetence and/or indifference?Whatever happened to the "Duty of care" these people are supposed to uphold and ensure that we breathe even  REASONABLY clean air??!!!How can living right on the Western Avenue or Hanger Lane Gyratory possibly provide the benefit of CLEANER air than Horn Lane??!!!

I really think you need to get the media reporting this, including the visit.Ealing Gazette, Evening Standard online etc.Otherwise this is just a few residents visiting a site that will be miraculously clean... just for that day.

Otherwise this is just a few residents visiting a site that will be miraculously clean...You have missed the point.The visit is not for residents but, for our MP, Ealing Council the EA and myself as the SHLAP rep., inc dirt digger.No need to worry about the site being clean, I have photos that dictate otherwise.

Sorry Nikki, I just meant that so far the site operators (and the EA and Ealing Council), have not listened to residents at all, and media coverage of an MP's visit in relation to residents' complaints can be a very powerful tool.A pic of Angie Bray MP in the press/online regarding this could be very powerful, especially combined with public health complaints, and alleged EA & Ealing Council inaction etc. What about the local councillors, are they coming?

Has the real source of the pollution been officially confirmed? Has the air been filtered and the remains properly examined? I understand that PM10 could be produced by other means such as diesel engines, and there are several diesel trains per hour accelerating away from Paddington. Watch as a diesel train revs up and starts to move.

Indeed, diesel trains are nasty source of PM10 - but I believe the previous studies (Faber and Maunsell, King's College etc) have shown the principal sources to be the industrial sites.The londonair website recorded a news item form 2011 :"Emissions of NOX from the Paddington main line are a clear feature in the London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory and in the London-wide modelling. However the actual emissions from diesel trains on the line is subject to great uncertainty. Emissions from the trains are clearly of concern with many people in west London living close to the Paddington main line. The new Ealing 12 monitoring site has been installed to answer this important question. It is located to the north of the railway line, in a residential area close to Southall Station. Are the big diesels still accelerating hard when they reach Southall? It might be interesting to see where the track speed limits change. Could brake dust from all types of train cause another problem as they approach Paddington?
