Enterprise Vehicles - too big for our roads?

Once again it is obvious that the vehicles used by Enterprise are far too big for these streets!This afternoon yet another tree has been damaged, one of the branches is now hanging down where it was broken by their truck! That is a beautiful tree when in blossom.I have reported this to Streetwatchers, but I guess nothing will happen as long as Enterprise are allowed to use such massive vehicles.The problem arises once the machine starts churning uo the contents, a huge area of the truck lifts up and outwards damaging anything in it's path.How many more trees will be broken before they do anything about it?

Jean - I am having on ongoing battle with Enterprise about their failure to collect recycling from our flats.  They claim the problem is lack of access, although the vehicles used for the general waste collection manage without any problems.  This week they have eventualy collected recycling, after many calls and complaints, but have driven across the lawn.  Obviously it's so dry that they haven't caused much damage, but there was no need for this, other than incompetence.

Nina, you need to have a meeting with the supervisor who manages the crew responsible for collecting your waste.If that fails, then you need to speak to the Supervisor's manager,  failing that, to the both the Ealing Council Contract Manager together with the Enterprise Contract Manager on Site if possible.

Residents may come to their senses and, get it right for a change.Think there may be a lot of thread bumping before, the next council elections.  I have a few downloaded, just in case the useless morons try to get nanny to delete them before hand.

Well I remember them complaining that the vehicles were too small.  We make too much unnecessary waste.For our pockets and the environment it would be better if we made less.Manufacturers and packaging companies have had a field day using packaging that was mostly designed to sell but also to protect and stack.  So it just grew and grew with no thought of safe disposal.  Packaging has to be designed taking into account disposal.  Now at last we are getting some new and easier to dispose of - including flatten - packaging. Councils (ie those of us who pay Council Tax) then picked up the bill for disposal.  Guess what we're running out of space and polluting what we do have.Packaging now has to be designed taking into account disposal.  Now at last we are getting some new and easier to dispose of - including flatten - packaging. In Germany you can leave your excess packaging in the shop - ie you don't have to take it home to dispose of later.Supermarkets' main aim is to sell you more - that is what they are there for.  Don't let them sell you more than you need!Where is this Council's info and help on how to REDUCE your waste?Where is this Council's info on how to look after your waste so it isn't spread along the street on dustbin day?In whose interest is that that we don't reduce our waste?We've just had National Recycling Week - did you know that?  Did you notice the can't-be-bothered brigade getting any extra leaflets or help with ordering any recycling bins?  Did you see any banners or initiatives?Where is the leadership on this?There is a lack of care and sometimes it just doesn't feel accidental.
