Has anyone had any air conditioning installed locally? Could be too late for this year but definitely needed long term!

There's a thread on the Chiswick Forum about keeping cool.It includes opening sash windows top AND bottom - lets hot air out the top and cooler air in the bottom. (Hope you've got window locks.)Also opening the loft hatch to let the hot air up and out under the eaves.Keeping a garden and not paving over everything also keeps oppressive heat down. Its lovely sitting out in the dappled shade and it also allows better drainage when the rainfall does come.AC may contribute to and be useless when the power cuts come.

We use a mobile unit which we wheel from room to room and this works quite well. It does mean that you need to vent it to outside through a window through a shortest possible pipe. We got ours from homebase about 5 years ago.

Same here, we have a portable air con unit which i bought in the sale 6 years ago from Homebase. Its been a life saver these last couple of days. Defo recommended it!
