Local organically grown food at Acton Market

I wanted to let W3 people know that MindFood ( www.mindfood.org.uk ) will be running a market stall at Acton Market on Saturdays from the 17th August. We'll be selling organically grown vegetables from our farm just 30 minutes away in Amersham. We'll be selling Kale, Broccoli, Cabbage, Courgettes, Bunched Beetroots and herbs to name a few with salads, beans and tomatoes coming soon. What's more all profits support our work with people with mental health issues from the Ealing Borough by equipping them with skills in growing fruit and vegetables on our 14 acre farm. Your biggest issue is that my friends and the new comers to Acton avoid the Morrisons square like the plague . We are probably your target market ... Have you thought of a pitch nearer Acton central Seriously un desirables around the Morrison area

Peter,Please can you explain to the rest of us why you actually came to live in Acton if you think it is such a dreadful place to live? Did you not do any research before you bought your property? The square outside Morrison's is a good place for the new organic food stall - there will be much more passing trade than in Churchfield Road. Not sure where you envisage a market stall being erected in Churchfield Road!

There may be may be more footfall outside Morrison's but that doesn't mean that they will stop and buy.Perhaps Peter has a point and perhaps they should advertise in the other places mentioned?

Peter obviously doen't like Acton as it is and wants to to see it transformed into another Chiswick.  Luckily this isn't going to happen and Acton will remain a great diverse area which can tolerate people like Peter as well as all its other inhabitants.

Great idea - not sure mid- August is the best time to start such a stall - all the yummy mummies in France or Tuscany. Can you hang on in there till September when trade will surely be better

I'll pop in this week and give you a poster to put up on your noticeboard. We are in discussions with the CAPE shop on Churchfield road about having a pop up veg section in their shop to.

I am a mummy myself (probably not very yummy) and was looking forward getting lots of organic veg but only managed to get some courgettes. Everything else was sold out. Please bring more next week!

Thanks for all your support last week. It went really well and we sold out of all our produce. We are back again tomorrow morning from 8.30am and have a couple of new additions in yellow courgettes and carrots along with beetroots, bags of kale, broccoli, cabbage, cauli, courgettes and marrows. Hopefully see you tomorrow!

Thanks to all the regular customers who have been supporting us over the last couple of months :-) We are back again tomorrow but will only be around for another 3 or 4 weeks before we break for winter. Organically grown Pumpkins, runner beans, caulis, cabbage, courgettes, 3 varieties of lettuce, curly kale, beetroots and herbs available from 9 until 3 ish tomorrow. Hopefully see you there good people of W3.

Went to the Farmers Market in West Ealing today.Now that is what should the area outside of Morrisons aspire to. What say Ealing Council?  Can't you organise that?

I love yellow courgettes and rarely see them in supermarkets, so I will really pleased to find them at Mindfood yesterday.Half of them were eaten last night, and the other half have joined a lovely little yellow pumpkin, also from Mindfood, to make a soup for later on.

Spoke to Ciaran on Sat and he mentioned that he would not be there next Sat but back the following sat. I will miss his fresh veg as its lovely and fresh.

We did have a jolly farmers' market for a couple of years with fabulous fresh fish, great breads and baked goods and excellent eggs, fruit, veg and juices.But, as a community, we didn't support it enough or buy enough so it withered away - lots of the traders went to West Ealing apparently.

Great to hear everyone is enjoying our veg! We will be there again this Saturday as my sister has kindly volunteered to run the stall in my absence so do pop by on Saturday between 9 and 3. We've got a nice selection of pumpkins and butternut squash this week as well as the usuals.  Cheers
