Grafton One Way

I did a delivery to Grafton Rd last night and was surprised that it was still 2 way traffic.I mentioned this to the house owner who told me that all plans had been scuppered by the Fire Brigade.How much did that all cost then? Didn't anyone think to ask them first?

All this, after we were told the end of August.  That is, if it's true.  Why were we not told, or has somebody got inside info.  If this is true, never trust our glorious dysfunctional council.Just a reminder what Master Crawford wrote to a resident:I received.on 14th Aug., the following email from Councillor Crawford :-Dear Mr. xxxxx,I've been informed by officers that they expect the works to commence by the end of the end of August - and that notices have been issued to that effect. If I receive any information indicating otherwise, I shall let you know.Best Wishes,DanielCan't say that I have received any notice as to when the work is supposed to start.  If there is any contrary indication maybe Cllr Crawford should let us know, after all, he has put his foot in it again, if the scheme has been scuppered.

Dan tweeted to say that the letters to local residents giving a start date should be going out at the end of this week.

Apparently should be operational by October 3rd - with luck.Tweets quicker than letters but I suppose less reach !

All these Tweets, I'd give em the bird.Is it possible, that one fine day, this council will do something decisive, and stop messing the electorate about.  Is that a big ask, or the impossible?

The Council must have this work programmed - via a contractor.  Unless priorities have changed.  Looks like bad management on behalf of Council Officers, unless of course they have been directed by Councillors to change priorities.Therefore this Council is failing to do anything decisive or otherwise.Soon you will all have a vote.  It needs to be used carefully.

The letters were delivered today - according to Tom Doran - work starting 6 sept and one- way operational by Oct 3 ( or was it sept 3 and Oct 6) anyhow you get the gist.

The pavement at the junction of Messaline and Grafton has been extended, reducing road width and, the gates have been removed at the junction of Crane and Cumberland.All that's needed now, is for Crane Ave to be made one way, from Cumberland to Baldwyn.

Three large no entry signs at the bottom of Grafton Road and a car battling up against the one way stream coming down!!

With 3 king size 'no entry signs' at the Horn lane end, one would safely assume it is operational.

Well, came out of hospital this afternoon, so far one car facing the wrong way and two others driving the wrong way. both with foreign plates.

I think most people must have got the hang of it.And unexpected plus round here is that there seems to be less traffic - but that is probably compensated for somewhere else - where people may not be happy.

People still using Grafton as a two way street. They should be prosecuted for driving without due care and attention.

It's quite confusing - no signs as you turn out of messaline Ave when I last looked for instance. I'm not sure it's formally started yet

Junction Grafton/Horn, No Entry signs and no entry written on the road.Hospital transport had to go via Emanuel last Saturday afternoon.Orchards estate agents tried to sneak up Grafton this afternoon.  There's no excuse for not obeying road signs, operational or not.  They are there for a reason.

A neighbour reported that while he was standing on the corner of Messaline Avenue and Emanuel Avenue, supervising his Albanian bricklayers who were building a wall, he noticed that around 20 cars per hour go the wrong way down Emanuel Avenue. I have seen this too, often, police cars do it.

I was at the junction of Grafton and Messaline yesterday but there were no signs at all.How far up Grafton Road does the one way go?

Not sure why anyone is surprised that police cars do it. Given the urgnecy of thier role of course they are going to save time where possible.I live in Goldsmith Road which is also one way and we have police going up the wrong way at times - if it means they get to the scene of an accident or crime faster good luck to them I say.Carl

Noticed that Grafton Rd still being used as two-way street. The main cause being the shambles that is the Grafton/Horn Lane junction, where apart from 1 partially obscured No Entry sign, all other signs seem to have disappeared. It would appear that who ever is running the contract in the council doesn't have a clue!

I think its only supposed to be one-way from Messaline to Horn Lane - but the markings seem really unclear.

But they come from Horn Ln up to Messaline.  Really tempted to jump out in front of a Merc yesterday, chances are, they weren't insured.  No excuse for not obeying road signs.  Maybe the police should lurk around Messaline, then dish out the fines and penalty points.
